Deliver professional management and prudent caretaking for 80 park areas, 3,117 acres of land, 50 playgrounds, 200 sports facilities and 40 miles of trails including
Riverfront Park,
Manito Park,
Gaiser Conservatory, city-wide public gardens including
Moore-Turner Heritage Gardens, the
Nishinomiya Tsutakawa Japanese Garden,
Rose Hill, the
Lilac Garden,
Duncan Garden, the
Joel E. Ferris Perennial Garden, and the
John A. Finch Arboretum.
Provide for the care and well-being of 48,000 street trees, 28,000 trees on developed public land and 27,000 available planting spaces along streets in the City.
Coordinate and schedule events and activities in City parks that in 2009 included: 340 picnic shelter reservations; 113 special event permits; 249 small family gatherings; and 74 weddings.
Provide athletic facilities management and scheduling for 155 separate play fields at 72 different sites. In 2009 staff handled 475 different requests for athletic field usage.

Deliver over $3.5 million in revenue and host 2.5 million guests annually in Riverfront Park.
Coordinate a full schedule of family entertainment and events including First Night Spokane, the Bloomsday Post-Race Celebration, Spokane’s 4th of July Community Celebration, Hoopfest, Unity in the Community, Kid’s Day, Spokane Falls Northwest Indian Encampment & Powwow and Pig-Out in the Park, plus many outdoor concerts and other community activities.

Manage four championship golf courses providing more than 150,000 rounds of golf annually:

Operate over 100,000 hours of programs serving 14,538 people in Outdoor Recreation, Therapeutic Recreation, Arts, Youth, Sports and Personal Interest classes.

Utilize guidance from an all-citizen policy board.
All facilities and programs are managed by a talented and energetic staff of 88 full-time employees, augmented with several hundred dedicated seasonal workers.
